This guided qigong meditation practice teaches how to consciously direct healing energy information from the brain through the heart to all five organ systems—the digestive system, urinary/purification system, and respiratory system. By combining physical relaxation, breath awareness, visualization, and intent-based energy work, practitioners learn to activate the body's innate healing capacity through a state of deep presence and internal listening.

What Is Qigong Meditation and How Does It Work?

Qigong meditation, as taught by Master Mingtong Gu in this practice, is not simply sitting in silence. Rather, it is a dynamic process of establishing intentional energetic communication between the brain and the body's organ systems. The practice begins with physical relaxation and conscious attention to the "liveness" within the body—all the sensations, feelings, and emotions present in the moment.

Master Gu emphasizes that the foundational step is allowing yourself to continuously relax into a comfortable position (0s). This is not passive—it is an active intention to release physical tension while maintaining awareness. From this grounded state, practitioners gently close the eyes and begin noticing the internal landscape of the body with curiosity and openness.

The core mechanism of this practice involves creating a conscious energetic pathway from the brain downward. As Master Gu explains, the deepest intention is "the intention of relaxing, the intention of opening—opening your heart, opening your mind, opening energy flow" (73s-90s). This opening is essential because healing information cannot be transmitted through a contracted, defended, or distracted system.

How Does the Brain Connect to the Heart and Organ Systems?

One of the central teachings in this meditation is the direct connection between the brain and the heart. Master Gu states: "The connection between your brain with your heart, the connection between your brain of all five organ system" (126s-138s). This is not merely anatomical—it is an energetic and informational relationship.

In this framework, the brain serves as the source of healing consciousness. The practice involves visualization and felt sense: imagine your brain "sending all the healing, the loving energy information to your heart in this new day, in this new moment" (172s-203s). The heart then becomes a relay station, amplifying this loving energy downward to all the organ systems.

This is not metaphorical language disconnected from function. Rather, it describes the body's own capacity to regulate and heal through conscious intention and energetic awareness. By mentally directing attention and intention toward an organ system, practitioners activate nervous system pathways that support parasympathetic tone, immune function, and cellular regeneration.

What Is Healing Energy Information?

Master Gu frequently uses the phrase "healing energy information," which merits clarification. This is not mystical energy in the sense of invisible forces. Instead, it refers to the body's own bioelectric field, regulated nervous system signaling, and the information carried by conscious intention.

The practice asks: "What is the most loving healing energy information you want to activate? You want to connect?" (208s-219s). This is an inquiry into what your body and consciousness most need in this moment. The answer might be calm, vitality, clarity, or immune support. Once identified, you "continuously feel, initiating the most loving healing energy information from the heart to all energy systems" (273s-289s).

The transmission happens through several channels: visualization, emotion, intention, and direct felt awareness. You can express this healing message through words ("I am well, getting better"), through toning sounds ("Hao La"), or through silent presence—whatever resonates most authentically in your own consciousness.

How to Work with the Five Organ Systems in Sequence

The meditation progresses by directing healing energy to each major organ system, one at a time. This allows deep, focused attention on each area and gives the body's intelligence an opportunity to respond and integrate.

The Digestive System: First, send "the most loving healing energy information, energy message blessing to the digestive system" (433s-444s). This can be done silently or by saying "Hao La" or expressing love and appreciation in your own words. As you send this intention, continuously be present with any sensations, tightness, warmth, or movement arising in the belly and organs. There is no forcing—simply presence and listening.

The Urinary and Purification System: Next, move awareness to the lower abdomen and kidneys: "Continuously from your home, sending the most loving healing energy information to your kidneys, a purification system" (559s-578s). The kidneys in traditional Chinese medicine are associated with fear, foundational energy, and the body's capacity to filter and cleanse. By directing loving attention here, you support both physical and emotional detoxification.

The Respiratory System: Finally, bring healing energy to the entire respiratory system—the lungs, bronchi, and all passages of breath. "Sending the most loving healing energy information to allow the entire respiratory system" (689s-699s). As you do this, notice the natural rhythm of breathing, any areas of restriction, and the sensation of oxygen moving through your body.

Throughout each phase, the instruction remains consistent: continuously notice, continuously relax, continuously be present. Do not strain or force. The body's own healing intelligence responds to attention, intention, and the permission to relax.

What Does Deep Presence and Internal Listening Mean?

A critical shift in this practice is moving from "doing" to "being." Master Gu repeatedly returns to the instruction: "Continuously noticing, deeply now, listen, deeply aware, deeply present with all the sensations, feeling inside" (748s-771s).

This deep presence is not concentration or forced focus. Rather, it is a quality of open awareness that notices what is already present without judgment or agenda. The body is always communicating—through sensation, temperature, vibration, emotion, and subtle movements. Most people are trained to ignore these signals. This practice reverses that pattern.

Internal listening means asking your organs: "What is trying to come in? What is trying to leave? What is trying to ask?" (374s-395s). This invites a dialogue between conscious awareness and the body's own wisdom. Often, an area of pain or tension is not a problem to eliminate but a message to understand.

How Does Physical Movement Integrate the Practice?

The meditation does not end in stillness. Instead, it transitions into gentle, free-flowing movement. Master Gu guides: "Continuously relaxed, allowing deep energy connection, deeply opening, deeply integrating" (828s-853s).

This movement phase is crucial because it allows the energetic work to integrate into the nervous system and cells. Movement begins naturally and organically—rotating the hips slowly, moving the shoulder joints, loosening the spine. There is no choreography; the body moves freely as it wishes (1054s-1106s).

This organic movement serves several functions: it circulates the healing energy throughout the body, releases any residual tension, helps ground the energetic experience into the physical form, and transitions consciousness from the deep internal state back to normal waking awareness. The movement is gentle enough that the practice can be done lying down, sitting, or standing.

What Is the Role of Sound and Intention in Healing?

Master Gu offers multiple doorways into the practice for different practitioners. Some may resonate with visualization, others with sensation, others with sound and words.

You can express healing intention through: sounds like "Hao La," words of affirmation ("always well, getting better"), personal language expressing love and appreciation (337s-345s), or silent presence alone. The vehicle matters less than the authenticity of the intention. The body's intelligence responds to genuine, loving attention regardless of the form it takes.

The underlying principle is that consciousness, intention, and sound all carry vibrational information. When you send love to your heart or kidneys, you are not using imagination—you are using a real, measurable capacity of the nervous system to regulate organ function through vagal tone, immune signaling, and hormonal balance.

How Does This Practice Serve the Body's Highest Purpose?

The meditation concludes by connecting personal healing to a larger context. Master Gu invites practitioners to recognize that the body is "naturally fulfilling the highest purpose of life within you around Earth on the planet Earth with a deeper awareness, deeper connection with your body" (1024s-1054s).

This is not grandiose spirituality disconnected from health. Rather, it acknowledges that when your organs are functioning in harmony, when your energy flows freely, and when you are at peace in your body, you naturally contribute more to the world around you. You have more vitality to give, more clarity to share, and more resilience in the face of challenges.

The practice, therefore, is simultaneously selfish and selfless—attending deeply to your own healing while recognizing that this contributes to collective wellbeing.

Where to Go from Here

This guided meditation is best practiced regularly—ideally daily or several times per week—to build the sensitivity and skill of consciously directing healing energy. As with any meditation or energy practice, results accumulate over time. Consistency matters more than perfection.

The practice is adaptable: you can do it for a few minutes focusing on one organ, or the full 18-minute sequence. You can practice lying down during recovery, sitting during a work break, or standing as part of a morning routine. The key is finding a posture comfortable enough that you can forget the body and go inward, yet alert enough that you don't fall asleep.

After practicing, notice over days and weeks: Do you feel more energy? Better digestion? Clearer breathing? Easier sleep? Reduced anxiety? These signs indicate that the practice is working. The body is remarkably responsive when given conscious, loving attention.

For deeper learning, Master Mingtong Gu offers additional qigong practices, online courses, and retreat programs through the Chi Center. The foundational principle remains the same across all formats: the body has an innate capacity to heal itself when we create the conditions of relaxation, presence, intention, and openness. Qigong meditation is one direct pathway into that capacity.

Begin by relaxing into a comfortable position and closing your eyes. Visualize your brain sending loving, healing energy information to your heart, then to the specific organ system you wish to address (digestive, urinary, respiratory). Hold the intention while breathing naturally and listening to sensations in that area. You can reinforce this with affirmations, toning sounds like 'Hao La,' or silent presence. The key is sustained, gentle attention without forcing.
Healing energy information refers to the body's bioelectric signaling, conscious intention, and nervous system regulation working together. It's not mystical but rather the measurable way that focused attention, breath, and intention activate parasympathetic tone, immune function, and cellular regeneration. The body responds to conscious, loving direction through multiple biological pathways.
Qigong meditation is gentle and adaptable, but any wellness program should be discussed with your healthcare provider first. The practice is not intended to replace medical treatment but to support the body's natural healing capacity. It can be done lying down, sitting, or standing depending on your comfort and condition.
Regular practice—ideally daily or several times per week—produces the best results. Consistency matters more than duration. Even a few minutes per day focused on one organ system will gradually increase your sensitivity to your body's signals and strengthen the brain-organ energy connection. Over weeks and months, most practitioners notice improved energy, digestion, sleep, and reduced anxiety.
In qigong, visualization and energy transmission are not separate. When you visualize your brain sending loving energy to your heart, you are simultaneously activating nervous system pathways, directing attention, and setting an intention. The body's intelligence responds to this integrated state of attention and emotion. The visualization is the doorway; the energetic effect follows naturally.
Internal listening invites your organs and body to communicate their needs and wisdom. Rather than imposing healing from outside, you ask: 'What is trying to come in? What is trying to leave?' This dialogue activates the body's own healing intelligence and helps you understand what each system actually requires, rather than forcing a predetermined outcome.
The free-flowing movement integrates the energetic work into the nervous system and cells. It circulates healing energy throughout the body, releases residual tension, grounds the practice in the physical form, and transitions consciousness back to waking awareness. The movement is organic—allowing the body to move as it naturally wants, without choreography.
