Intent Over Perfection: WhereReal Change Begins

Sadhguru
Sadhguru

読了 約2分

In a brief exchange at Isha Yoga Center, Sadhguru delivers a teaching that cuts through the perfectionism that paralyzes so many seekers: "No action is absolutely perfect. In everything there is something wrong. In everything there is something right. But in intent, we can be right. That's the only thing we can fix."

Why perfection misses the point

This statement arrives after casual, warm banter—the kind of unguarded moment where teaching often lands deepest. Sadhguru is not dismissing excellence or craft. Rather, he's pointing to a fundamental misunderstanding that trips up people on any serious path: the belief that if you can just execute the right action perfectly, the transformation will follow.

It doesn't work that way. Life is too complex, too layered, for any external action to be flawless. The variables are infinite. What you think is the perfect move in one moment contains a flaw you won't see until later. And yet—the flaw itself is not the problem. The problem is the state from which the action arose.

Intent is what you can actually govern. It's the only thing entirely in your control. Not the outcome, not the execution, not even how others perceive it. But the inner orientation, the honesty of your motivation, the clarity of why you're doing something—that lives in your hands.

For someone meditating, practicing asana, or simply trying to live more consciously, this reframes everything. You stop waiting for conditions to be perfect. You stop replaying moments looking for where you "got it wrong." Instead, you turn toward the only variable you can actually fix: the purity of your aim. Is my intention true? Am I doing this from clarity or from confusion? From love or from fear? That's where the real work lives.

It's a teaching that carries particular weight in traditions that value both rigorous practice and the acceptance of human limitation—the acknowledgment that you can be devoted, disciplined, and still imperfect, and that's exactly as it should be.

Where to go from here

Sadhguru's fuller teachings on action, karma, and intention are available through Isha Foundation's meditation programs and public talks. Explore how this principle applies to your own practice—not as permission to be careless, but as permission to be human while you're becoming more.

よくある質問

Yes. Sadhguru teaches that perfection in action is impossible, but purity of intent is within reach. Spiritual growth comes not from flawless execution but from honest, clear intention behind what you do.
It means regularly checking why you're doing something—whether your motivation comes from clarity, compassion, and truth, or from fear, ego, and confusion. That inner alignment is the only variable you fully control.
No. He's distinguishing between effort and outcome. You can bring full care and discipline to your practice while accepting that imperfection is inevitable. The work is keeping your intention aligned, not achieving flawless results.
