Jemal Wade Hines is a guitarist, frame drummer, and multi-instrumentalist who founded HuDost, a neo-folk world rock ensemble based in Montreal and Kentucky. Since 2006, HuDost has toured consistently across the United States, Canada, and Europe, performing at major festivals including Bonnaroo, FloydFest, Blissfest, the Salvador Dali Museum, the Levitt Pavilions, WoodSongs at the Kentucky Theater (on PBS), Nashville's Bluebird Café, Music City Roots, The Montreal Folk Festival, and Stan Rogers Folk Fest. Hines performs as part of a husband and wife team with Moksha Sommer.
HuDost's album "of Water + Mercy" reached number 24 on the Billboard Sales Charts for Folk/Americana and won The Independent Music Award for Social Action Song. Hines has been playing in bands since 1987, driven by a passion for sonic exploration with the guitar and recording. Beyond music, he and his partner have advocated on Capitol Hill as part of the ONE Campaign, lending their voice to global aid programs.
