Christian Howard

Christian Howard (all pronouns) is an interdisciplinary artist and designer living and working in Denver, Colorado, on occupied and unceded Hinonoeino (Arapaho), Tsitsista (Cheyenne), and Nunt'zi (Ute) land. They design spaces, both physical and digital, that use play as a tool for engaging with complex, often uncomfortable emotions.

Their work has taken the form of video games, live action games, large-scale immersive experiences, theatrical performances, and interactive storytelling. These environments are platforms for exploring personal and collective purpose, the legacy of colonialism and white supremacy, compassionate leadership, grief and mourning, and the collaborative development of equitable technology. Through play, participants can meet these challenging subjects in ways that are both profound and accessible, often tapping into unconscious understanding.

In making these spaces, Christian draws on the other roles they hold: Tibetan Buddhist, dharma teacher, death doula, cultural strategist, writer, game designer, and educator. They are also an apprentice teacher at East Bay Meditation Center, a Cultivating Emotional Balance (CEB) trainer, and a certified mindfulness instructor. As a narrative designer, they help transform organizational cultures and interactive content.
