Orgyen Khandroling Buddhist Meditation Center — Denver, United States
Buddhist meditation center in downtown Denver, in the Longchen Nyingthig lineage
Orgyen Khandroling is a Buddhist meditation center at 3300 Josephine Street in Denver. Its own pages call it a jewel in the heart of downtown Denver and name it the main place of practice and study. The center is guided by Anyen Rinpoche, with the stated aim of furthering genuine dharma practice in the West.
The lineage is the center's spine. Anyen Rinpoche is a heart son of Tsara Dharmakirti Rinpoche, and fifth in an unbroken line of heart sons who received an uncommonly short, unbroken transmission of the Longchen Nyingthig and the Dzogchen teachings directly from the siddha Patrul Rinpoche. He teaches with an excellent command of English, and the center describes his transmission as having immediacy, rigor, humor and penetrating insight.
The doors are open to seasoned practitioners and to the simply curious. A visitor can drop in to a weekly practice session, come to a public teaching by Rinpoche, or sign up for a more intensive program. Rinpoche also travels and teaches throughout the year with Allison Choying Zangmo, his spiritual partner and translator. The center keeps a calendar of offerings, and a separate section for OKL Canada.
The center's life reaches beyond the cushion. Its news mentions support for this year's Tsetar Shrimp Release, and a new book by Anyen Rinpoche and Allison Choying Zangmo, The Flowing River of Dharma: Instructions on Parting from the Four Attachments. Orgyen Khandroling is a registered 501(c)3 organization.
