HuDost

HuDost is an electric-folk, Americana and world rock ensemble that tours internationally. Their albums have reached the Billboard and Folk charts, placing in the top 5 in Canada and the top 10 in the USA. Their performances have been described as "enchanting, moving, wild, and inspiring while infused with humor."

The core of HuDost is Moksha Sommer, from Montréal, and Jemal Wade Hines, from Kentucky. Their music weaves folk, world and rock into one fabric. It draws on pop and rock as well as traditional Sufi music, Bulgarian, Croatian, Macedonian and Balkan folk music, and songs in Farsi, Turkish and Arabic. It is meant to bring both tears and laughter, to stir the nameless longing that lives in every heart, and to invoke total celebration.

Since 2015, the two have also been engaged activists. They serve as Kentucky Congressional District Representatives for ONE, a non-profit working to end extreme poverty and, in particular, the sexism of poverty.
