[1:16] so that was our
[1:19] global meditation thank you very much
[1:28] just to learn to be
[1:32] present to have your attention
[1:39] in the present moment instead of
[1:44] having your attention continuously
[1:48] being absorbed
[1:51] by the thinking
[1:56] process the thoughts
[2:01] so this is our
[2:07] global life
[2:12] healing meditation
[2:16] particularly helpful i would say
[2:20] at this present time as we are finding
[2:23] ourselves
[2:24] in at a time of
[2:27] global
[2:30] disruption many global challenges
[2:36] arising and
[2:40] likely it's likely that
[2:44] the challenges will remain
[2:49] with us and new challenges will come as
[2:52] we are moving
[2:53] into a period of global turbulence
[2:59] and that's fine
[3:03] it's a unique opportunity for
[3:08] spiritual awakening
[3:12] a unique opportunity
[3:15] for disidentifying
[3:20] from the egoic
[3:24] mind
[3:28] and finding the transcendent dimension
[3:32] to who you are
[3:39] the motivation for awakening for going
[3:42] deeper
[3:45] grows for human beings
[3:50] as the challenges grow
[3:53] and this is a reason why
[3:56] this is potentially
[4:01] an auspicious time
[4:04] when humans are not being challenged
[4:08] then the motivation to evolve
[4:14] is not there it's lacking because you're
[4:17] relatively
[4:18] comfortable in your little comfort zone
[4:26] but when you're taken out of your
[4:27] comfort zone
[4:32] when things get disrupted
[4:38] a huge amount of uncertainty comes into
[4:41] your life
[4:43] loss comes into your life or the
[4:45] possibility of loss
[4:47] and that's often the same thing for
[4:49] people because the possibility of loss
[4:51] is a projected future
[4:53] and you suffer just as much as if you
[4:56] were
[4:57] already in that situation which may
[4:59] never happen
[5:02] but all these things
[5:06] potentially become the motivating
[5:10] force for deep
[5:13] profound inner change for a shift in
[5:16] consciousness for step forward
[5:20] in the evolution of your consciousness
[5:24] which is the consciousness
[5:26] of humanity
[5:34] so we need to rise up to the challenge
[5:38] of our present time because if we don't
[5:40] or if you don't
[5:43] then it will affect you in
[5:47] very unpleasant way you suffer more and
[5:49] more
[5:50] as already millions of people
[5:54] are experiencing suffering for example
[5:58] an enormous amount of fear in the
[6:00] collective energy field
[6:04] many people are in a state of fear for
[6:06] example connected to the
[6:09] virus
[6:14] and so there's a disruption that occurs
[6:18] on the outside and
[6:23] there's also a disruption that occurs in
[6:26] human consciousness
[6:35] the most important realization is
[6:41] to become aware of the fact that
[6:45] the most the most primordial
[6:48] thing in your life
[6:51] ultimately the one thing that determines
[6:57] how you experience your life or your
[7:01] reality
[7:03] determines how you respond or react to
[7:06] events and situations and circumstances
[7:10] the most primordial fact is not what
[7:13] happens around you
[7:17] the most important factor factor is
[7:20] your state of consciousness the state of
[7:23] consciousness with which you meet
[7:26] the circumstances of your life the
[7:28] situation of your life
[7:36] and so if people live unconsciously
[7:39] they're not aware of this it's very easy
[7:44] to become a victim of your circumstances
[7:50] and many many humans
[7:54] are victim of their circumstances
[8:00] what does that mean
[8:06] their inner state of consciousness
[8:09] is completely determined
[8:13] by the external world by other people
[8:17] by what happens on the outside
[8:23] both their personal situation and the
[8:26] collective situation
[8:27] in the world so they're at the mercy
[8:31] of circumstances
[8:34] even at even on the smallest level at
[8:36] the mercy of another human being you
[8:38] can't come you meet another human being
[8:41] who is angry
[8:43] if you are not sufficiently present
[8:48] this human being was angry will trigger
[8:51] the same emotion in you
[8:56] and so you are at the mercy of somebody
[8:58] else's state
[9:01] that's just a small example and it
[9:04] happens all the time
[9:08] and then you have the
[9:11] whatever you absorb through the media
[9:14] these days
[9:16] the mainstream media social media
[9:21] and mainstream media for example
[9:25] generates an enormous amount of
[9:29] emotion it's there because emotion sells
[9:32] itself people tune in
[9:36] it has a an almost addictive
[9:39] quality to it and so
[9:43] without knowing it i don't believe the
[9:45] people
[9:47] who run the media the mainstream media
[9:50] are probably not aware of what they're
[9:52] doing but they themselves are in the
[9:55] grip
[9:55] of this collective energy field
[10:01] underneath the surface of things and
[10:03] there's a huge amount of collective
[10:05] fear running through it if you're not
[10:08] sufficiently present then you have
[10:10] no immunity
[10:14] to what goes on around you and you are
[10:17] susceptible
[10:18] to catching so to speak
[10:22] not i'm not talking of a virus because
[10:24] there's another kind of immunity
[10:26] that is of a different kind
[10:30] that is within your consciousness
[10:33] you are then at the mercy of whatever
[10:37] mental virus is floating around
[10:40] in the collective energy field and
[10:42] without
[10:43] knowing it it infects you
[10:46] so you absorb by what by watching
[10:50] an excessive amount of uh news
[10:55] or television or whatever device you
[10:59] use you absorb
[11:02] all that that collective energy field
[11:06] that
[11:06] you can't see it it's underneath the
[11:08] surface of things
[11:10] and you're then taken over by a mental
[11:13] emotional
[11:14] energy field without knowing it you
[11:17] think that's
[11:18] you you're identified with this
[11:20] collective energy field
[11:24] so it's you've been taken over by
[11:28] what could be described as a virus a
[11:30] mental virus a mental emotional virus
[11:35] and you find yourself in a state of
[11:37] either fear
[11:38] or state of anger or anxiety
[11:45] and so and that's this when you identify
[11:49] with that state of anger
[11:51] anxiety or fear
[11:55] you become it so to speak or it becomes
[11:58] you
[12:00] it becomes part of your identity
[12:04] and spiritually speaking we call that
[12:07] unconscious
[12:08] living to be unconscious
[12:11] is to completely identify
[12:14] with a mental emotional energy field
[12:18] identify means you seek yourself in it
[12:21] it takes you over you
[12:23] you don't know yourself except through
[12:25] that
[12:27] your consciousness is completely
[12:28] identified with that energy
[12:32] and that's a terrible state to be in now
[12:35] a state of
[12:36] quite normal it's very important
[12:40] then when this becomes
[12:44] more and more unpleasant
[12:48] fear grows anger grows
[12:54] then
[12:57] it's easier for humans to suddenly
[13:00] become aware of what's happening to them
[13:02] and that is the motivating force
[13:05] that
[13:10] helps people to
[13:14] step out of the identification
[13:17] with this collective streams of
[13:20] emotional mental streams
[13:24] so that's the most vital thing
[13:28] you need vigilance
[13:31] so that you are not drawn into these
[13:35] unconscious collective energy fields
[13:38] which are
[13:39] really very much like a mental virus
[13:44] collective so there's an equivalent
[13:48] on a mental level to what we have on the
[13:51] physical level
[13:53] on the physical level we have the
[13:56] that the virus that but we all know
[13:59] about
[14:02] all over the world and the
[14:06] equivalent of that on the mental level
[14:10] is a virus of destructive
[14:13] negative thought forms and emotions
[14:18] that people get taken over by
[14:21] and that makes life very unpleasant
[14:25] it can also lead to an intensification
[14:28] of
[14:29] external problems when
[14:32] more and more people are being taken
[14:34] over by negative energy fields without
[14:37] knowing it
[14:38] then they create in the external
[14:43] they create whatever corresponds to
[14:45] their inner state of consciousness
[14:50] so this is a time a very critical time
[14:55] but it is uh
[15:00] the most critical element of it
[15:04] as i see it is not in the external yes
[15:06] there are
[15:07] external problems but more fundamentally
[15:12] it is a problem of human consciousness
[15:16] and it can only be tackled there this is
[15:19] the root
[15:20] the causal realm is human consciousness
[15:25] and in order to inhabit
[15:30] a better world
[15:36] you need to go to the cause will
[15:40] run off your
[15:43] own consciousness
[15:50] and not seek a better world
[15:55] in the realm of effect which is the
[15:58] external realm
[16:02] it doesn't mean you cannot do things in
[16:05] the external round factor in any action
[16:07] that you take
[16:08] is so if it is action to be
[16:11] ultimately really helpful and beneficial
[16:14] if the underlying mental emotional state
[16:19] out of which this action arises is one
[16:22] of anxiety or fear
[16:27] it's it's not possible to take wise
[16:29] action
[16:30] and make wise decisions
[16:34] out of a state of fear so
[16:41] also um many people want
[16:44] they have good intentions they want to
[16:46] create a better world
[16:48] and that is wonderful
[16:51] but the if you neglect the causal
[16:55] realm which is your consciousness
[16:59] then whatever you do on the outer you
[17:02] might be very angry and out of your
[17:04] anger
[17:05] you want to create a better world that's
[17:06] dangerous it's understandable but it's
[17:09] dangerous
[17:11] because any action you take is
[17:13] contaminated by
[17:15] the energy field of anger and creates in
[17:18] eastern terms would say creates more
[17:20] karma
[17:22] more suffering
[17:28] so the important thing for us is not to
[17:31] be taken over
[17:33] by the collective
[17:37] virus that's floating around and it's
[17:39] everywhere
[17:41] in the media and so on so be very
[17:45] vigilant
[17:48] vigilance is required
[17:54] it's ultimately
[17:58] and this is what meditation is all about
[18:00] and this is what healing is all about
[18:04] healing in a wider sense
[18:07] normally healing refers to physical
[18:10] healing which is
[18:13] wonderful too but the deeper healing
[18:16] is a healing of your consciousness
[18:19] the healing of the fragmented
[18:22] consciousness the healing of the
[18:28] suffering that arises when you
[18:31] completely identify
[18:33] with mental emotional streams
[18:38] that come to you they take you over
[18:43] and so then you identify with your all
[18:46] your
[18:46] every mental positions you have
[18:53] political views mental positions
[18:56] and you derive your sense of self from
[18:59] your position and
[19:01] the other becomes the enemy
[19:06] it does not mean as you awaken out of
[19:10] that
[19:10] it does not mean that you
[19:14] no longer have any mental positions
[19:18] you continue to have certain views for
[19:20] example
[19:22] with regards to
[19:25] the political situation or the social
[19:27] situation you have certain views
[19:30] and that's fine it would be
[19:34] virtually impossible to say i'm now
[19:36] giving up all my viewpoints
[19:38] completely i'm no longer having any
[19:41] viewpoint
[19:42] and
[19:46] you can't do that but you can recognize
[19:48] a mental position as a mentor position
[19:52] without deriving your sense of self from
[19:55] it
[19:56] then when you become involved in a
[19:58] discussion with someone who holds it and
[20:00] for example they in the united states at
[20:03] the present time there's a huge division
[20:05] it's almost like
[20:06] two gradually two universes
[20:11] are developing the just separate as a
[20:15] fragmentation
[20:19] and if you're unconscious which means
[20:23] you're identified with your mental
[20:25] positions
[20:26] then when anybody questions your mental
[20:29] position with an opposite mental
[20:31] position
[20:32] this the person becomes your enemy
[20:35] if millions of people live in that
[20:37] unconscious way
[20:41] civil disorder
[20:45] even civil war is not impossible
[20:49] that means millions of people are so
[20:51] identified with their positions that
[20:53] they
[20:56] they're completely unaware that they are
[20:57] being taken over by an energy field
[21:04] so the answer is
[21:09] to become aware of the positions that
[21:13] your mind is taking
[21:14] and saying well this is my position you
[21:16] can then have a discussion with someone
[21:18] without making the other into an
[21:19] enemy without attacking the other either
[21:25] emotionally mentally or even physically
[21:27] in the case of
[21:28] very unconscious people you can have a
[21:31] discussion and perhaps you can arrive at
[21:33] some kind of
[21:35] you can meet at some point in the middle
[21:38] of your
[21:38] conscious if you're unconscious which
[21:41] means completely identified with your
[21:43] mental vision there's no meeting anymore
[21:45] you cannot meet the other because the
[21:46] other is
[21:47] the enemy so
[21:51] the primordial problem and this is where
[21:53] the healing also comes in
[21:55] is healing is
[21:58] really the to be restored to wholeness
[22:04] not to be fragmented and lose yourself
[22:07] in the fragmentation of your mind
[22:11] and so how does this happen
[22:15] how can i have a mental position
[22:18] for example even i have certain
[22:21] positions obviously
[22:22] every human has with regards to
[22:26] politics uh
[22:29] i don't talk about them because
[22:33] who cares what my mental position is
[22:35] that's not important
[22:37] i'm here to guide humans
[22:41] to a higher or deeper dimension where
[22:44] they are no longer completely
[22:46] identified with and absorbed by their
[22:49] mental positions their minds their
[22:52] thoughts
[22:53] then you can have the thoughts but you
[22:56] have
[22:56] the thoughts are exist within a greater
[23:00] wholeness which we could call the
[23:03] awareness
[23:06] and your identity lies in the awareness
[23:10] the presence the consciousness
[23:11] not in the position of the mind
[23:15] then you can still have your position
[23:18] but you're no longer threatened in your
[23:20] sense of identity if somebody
[23:23] questions your position or contradicts
[23:31] so that's the and that's the essence of
[23:35] meditation
[23:36] also the essence of meditation is to
[23:39] find
[23:40] that to discover
[23:46] that transcendent dimension to who you
[23:49] are
[23:51] the being of yourself
[23:57] and you discover it
[24:02] and this is as i speak
[24:08] there's an opportunity for you
[24:12] to realize this
[24:15] within yourself as i speak
[24:20] here and now
[24:24] this transcendent dimension
[24:28] to who you are the unconditioned
[24:32] being
[24:36] is something that you do not need to
[24:40] bring about
[24:45] through arduous discipline
[24:50] and you cannot generate it
[24:55] by being a good person
[24:59] it comes before all that it's already
[25:02] here
[25:04] you at that level you are already
[25:10] complete perfect
[25:13] or to use this word whole
[25:17] whole you are already whole on the level
[25:20] of being
[25:23] you are already
[25:26] whole now that's an interesting word
[25:28] whole
[25:30] w h o l e whole
[25:34] on this
[25:37] on the personal level the conditioned
[25:40] mental emotional entity
[25:44] you are not hold you up there's a lot
[25:46] still that you could do
[25:48] and many things you cannot do
[25:52] and you can improve your life on the
[25:55] level of the person
[25:56] of course it's a good thing to improve
[25:58] your life on
[26:00] that level but
[26:03] the if you miss
[26:07] the fundamental dimension of the
[26:10] transcendent
[26:11] which is the spiritual dimension then
[26:14] nothing
[26:15] on the level of the your personal self
[26:17] will ever
[26:18] ultimately satisfy you no matter what
[26:20] you achieve
[26:21] on that level it doesn't mean that you
[26:24] should not strive and
[26:25] to achieve things it's a good thing to
[26:30] try and achieve things as a human being
[26:32] to
[26:33] learn new things experience new things
[26:35] to grow this or that beautiful
[26:37] this is part of why you are here but
[26:40] it's not enough
[26:41] and in fact it's frustrating ultimately
[26:44] and not satisfying if you miss the more
[26:46] fundamental task
[26:49] the more fundamental human task
[26:52] which is to awaken to the deeper
[26:55] dimension of who you
[26:56] are beyond the conditioned person
[27:02] and that's the healing that's the
[27:04] wholeness do
[27:05] you realize on that level you are
[27:07] already whole
[27:08] healing and whole go back to the same
[27:11] route
[27:12] in if you go back the etymology of the
[27:14] in english
[27:16] healing and whole come back from to go
[27:19] back to the same road which
[27:20] lies in old english old high german and
[27:23] north which is scandinavian language
[27:27] they all go back healing and whole
[27:30] go back to the same route sometimes
[27:32] wisdom is embodied sometimes
[27:34] in language so if you follow it to to
[27:37] its root
[27:38] so healing and whole
[27:42] i have the same root and then there's
[27:45] another word that is part of that that
[27:47] is comes out of the same root and that's
[27:50] the word
[27:51] holy so the word
[27:55] healing whole and holy
[27:59] have the same etymologically
[28:02] have the same root
[28:06] so you discover
[28:09] a dimension that is always has always
[28:12] been there
[28:13] is not subject to time
[28:16] discover a dimension within yourself
[28:19] that is also
[28:20] the realm of the holy
[28:24] and you cannot define that holy
[28:27] points to the fact that you are
[28:31] intrinsically connected to the source of
[28:35] all life which traditionally is called
[28:38] god the holy points to that
[28:42] holy is not a word that you will hear
[28:45] very frequently
[28:47] in our present civilization
[28:51] it's unlikely that the word holy
[28:55] has ever been used in the past few
[28:58] years on cnn msnbc or fox news
[29:02] very unlikely and
[29:06] the new york times also i haven't seen
[29:08] the word holy i've been looking for it
[29:10] for a long time no it's not there
[29:13] because humans no longer know even know
[29:15] what that means they had the
[29:17] you can only experi you can only
[29:20] get a glimpse of what that means within
[29:22] yourself beyond conceptualization
[29:26] when you go out into nature and you're
[29:29] in a state of
[29:31] pure awareness and your you look at the
[29:33] totality of nature that surrounds you no
[29:35] matter where you are
[29:36] there are trees or there's a landscape
[29:39] or it's the ocean or there's a mountain
[29:41] or just a field
[29:42] or even just a park or even just one
[29:45] tree
[29:47] you give your give it your complete
[29:48] attention
[29:50] then without labeling it without
[29:53] analyzing it without
[29:55] calling it anything you give it your
[29:57] complete attention then you can
[29:59] sense that beyond that which you see in
[30:01] nature
[30:04] with your senses or what you can hear
[30:06] see here
[30:08] take in with your senses there is
[30:11] something
[30:11] there is an essence in nature there is
[30:15] a presence in nature that can only be
[30:18] described as
[30:21] holy and you're in a state of
[30:23] oh it's i like that word oh
[30:27] when you when you're in nature and you
[30:29] go ah
[30:31] and of course at that moment your mind
[30:33] stops
[30:34] you're just conscious you're not
[30:36] labeling what you
[30:37] perceive and then you sense
[30:41] the the what we best
[30:45] every sense perception is the surface
[30:47] reality
[30:49] but beyond the surface reality there's a
[30:52] deeper
[30:52] reality and you can sense this deeper
[30:55] reality which ultimately what is that
[30:59] it's the universal consciousness that
[31:00] manifests itself
[31:03] in through countless millions of life
[31:06] forms
[31:07] but underneath it there is the one
[31:11] ultimately the one consciousness the one
[31:13] being and you can sense that
[31:15] when your mind is still you can sense
[31:18] that in nature
[31:21] and then you can sense it there's no no
[31:24] it's not a separation anymore between
[31:26] you and
[31:26] nature the same consciousness but
[31:30] different frequency
[31:31] yes is alive in you
[31:34] as you as the consciousness that
[31:38] manifests
[31:40] as a plant a tree a flower
[31:44] and so you you sense that connecting let
[31:46] us see
[31:47] that is the awakening that's the
[31:48] restoration of
[31:51] wholeness the wholeness of life
[31:54] when the fragmented entity the ego
[31:58] subsides and you become restored
[32:02] to the the wholeness of who you are
[32:07] that's the this is what is needed for
[32:10] sanity
[32:12] to uh to
[32:15] come back into you human interactions
[32:19] the only thing that can save the world
[32:22] is
[32:24] a this shift in consciousness this
[32:27] realization
[32:28] it begins with you
[32:32] and it begins here and now
[32:35] and how does it begin here and now
[32:38] it begins and i'm inviting you now
[32:41] perhaps
[32:42] it's already happening in you but you're
[32:45] not quite aware of it
[32:48] it begins with a moment of
[32:51] no thought but just pure
[32:55] presence of beingness
[32:59] like now
[33:06] that's meditation meditation is
[33:11] thinking subsides
[33:15] awareness remains
[33:23] and when thinking subsides
[33:27] the entire
[33:32] self what we could call
[33:36] the self the egoic self
[33:42] the person the personality
[33:46] also subsides because it's created by
[33:49] the movement of thought
[33:51] so when thinking subsides
[33:55] even for a moment in that moment
[33:59] the conditioned entity
[34:03] the personality also subsides
[34:07] and something else arises
[34:12] and there are many names that we could
[34:14] use to describe
[34:17] that something else that arises that is
[34:20] much
[34:20] deeper much more fundamental
[34:24] than the person many words have been
[34:27] used
[34:28] over centuries and millennia to describe
[34:33] this the most
[34:36] neutral term you could use is the being
[34:40] of you or the beingness of you
[34:47] in
[35:01] it could also be called the atman the
[35:03] innermost
[35:04] the the divinity within this is from
[35:09] indian spirituality the art man yeah
[35:12] no jesus had certain words
[35:16] for it he called it sometimes he called
[35:19] it the kingdom of heaven which is a
[35:21] dimension of consciousness it's not
[35:23] something you can see
[35:24] it's here it's there he clearly said you
[35:26] can never say it's here it's there
[35:29] because it's inseparable from who you
[35:31] are
[35:32] so the kingdom of heaven is another term
[35:35] you can use it to describe that
[35:37] dimension the entire teaching of jesus
[35:39] was about finding that dimension within
[35:42] sometimes he called it other things he
[35:44] also called it eternal life
[35:47] and he said i want you to have eternal
[35:49] life this is that my teaching is this
[35:52] eternal life what does that mean it
[35:54] doesn't mean that the person
[35:57] goes on and on into eternal means
[35:59] timeless
[36:00] the timeless dimension of who you are
[36:05] and then the buddha came and the buddha
[36:08] refused
[36:09] all positive terminology
[36:13] like kingdom of heaven or the atman or
[36:16] the
[36:17] it or eternal life because
[36:20] he knew that humans would fall into the
[36:24] trap of transforming every any positive
[36:27] statement into a mental idol
[36:30] so he refused to make any positive
[36:32] statements he used only negative
[36:34] statements he denies
[36:37] everything that is ultimately not it so
[36:39] would is described
[36:40] as the no-self
[36:43] this is the no-self and that's the
[36:46] ultimate teaching of the buddha is the
[36:49] to discover within yourself the
[36:50] unreality ultimate unreality
[36:54] of the person the personal sense of the
[36:56] egoic sense of self the self
[36:59] which also jesus said when he made
[37:03] the important statement
[37:06] deny thyself huh
[37:10] there wasn't a buddha that's what could
[37:11] have been said by the buddha
[37:13] jesus said it deny thyself
[37:16] deny yourself meaning
[37:20] what denies a strange word here
[37:24] it doesn't mean that you decide to say
[37:26] oh i i
[37:27] don't exist but that's not it
[37:31] deny means as he uses
[37:34] it recognize the unreality
[37:37] of the self that you thought you were
[37:41] that is the denial of self deny
[37:44] thyself recognize that ultimately
[37:47] that is not really who you are this is
[37:50] just a surface phenomenon it's
[37:53] you find that it also has its place
[37:56] you have to live with it for a while but
[38:00] the deeper dimension is that's that is
[38:02] not
[38:03] who you are
[38:06] so it's vital for humans
[38:11] especially now as they say we're moving
[38:15] into a critical time period for the
[38:17] totality of humanity
[38:21] which is also an incredible opportunity
[38:24] for
[38:25] disidentifying from the
[38:28] the unconsciousness that otherwise
[38:31] governs the world
[38:33] they so how do you do it
[38:41] in a way you don't even do it
[38:48] is just a cessation of
[38:53] one could almost say the cessation of
[38:55] doing
[38:57] and the realization of being
[39:01] and doing on a primordial level is
[39:04] thinking
[39:06] humans are thinking all the time except
[39:08] in dreamless sleep
[39:10] they're thinking and thinking and
[39:11] thinking and thinking and thinking
[39:13] there's no cessation
[39:15] and then life gets more and more
[39:17] difficult then you watch more and more
[39:18] in the news on tv and whatever it's
[39:20] called the news is not the news anymore
[39:22] it's just
[39:23] opinions it's just
[39:27] stupid manipulation and you watch him
[39:30] and you get drawn into that and you
[39:32] think it's all so real
[39:36] and then you see anxiety arises anger
[39:39] rises
[39:40] suffering arises
[39:45] and that's this and as humans
[39:49] as the suffering increases as i said
[39:52] before
[39:52] the motivation to awaken in many humans
[39:56] also
[39:56] increases
[39:59] so we are here
[40:03] to realize this and
[40:06] to actually welcome the
[40:13] challenges we are confronted with
[40:17] externally because they are great
[40:20] opportunity
[40:23] for
[40:27] the awakening of consciousness
[40:31] humans don't awaken except through
[40:37] difficulties obstacles
[40:41] problems
[40:51] challenges
[40:53] and then your state of consciousness
[40:57] the state of consciousness with which
[40:59] you meet the external situation
[41:02] changes which means how the way in which
[41:05] you
[41:06] experience an external situation
[41:09] changes
[41:13] and now this sounds a little mystical
[41:21] what subsequently happens on an external
[41:25] level
[41:27] is also to a large extent determined by
[41:29] your state of consciousness in the
[41:31] present moment
[41:33] what subsequently happens in the
[41:35] so-called future
[41:37] which never comes because you can only
[41:40] experience the future as the present
[41:42] moment
[41:43] so you can never experience a future
[41:45] except as a
[41:46] thought form
[41:50] interesting to realize this
[41:54] the only reality the future has
[41:58] is as a thought form you cannot
[42:01] actually say oh there it is
[42:04] because the moment you say that is it's
[42:06] the present
[42:08] so the how things evolve in the
[42:12] so-called future
[42:15] uh are linked
[42:19] in very fundamental way to the your
[42:21] state of conscience in the present
[42:24] so if you meet a difficult situation or
[42:27] a difficult person
[42:29] in a state of consciousness that is
[42:33] not reactive but in an awakened state of
[42:37] consciousness
[42:37] which means present alert
[42:43] then it changes also
[42:46] the situation the external situation how
[42:49] it develops from
[42:51] there onward
[42:55] or you can but if you are unconscious
[42:59] you face an external situation
[43:02] and you amplify the problem
[43:07] of the external situation that you're
[43:08] facing by your unconscious reactivity
[43:11] of the the ego itself it feels
[43:13] threatened in the situation
[43:15] as a new smart anxiety then all the
[43:17] things that you do
[43:19] in order to remove the situation or make
[43:22] it better
[43:22] actually makes it worse
[43:27] so it amplifies when you are
[43:29] unconsciously reacting all the time
[43:33] and you can you can observe it even just
[43:35] meeting a single human being a difficult
[43:37] human being
[43:39] and many human beings are very difficult
[43:42] you might have noticed
[43:43] so you meet a difficult human being how
[43:46] you react if you
[43:47] if this difficult human being triggers
[43:50] the same in you an angry human being
[43:52] triggers anger in you then you amplify
[43:54] his or her anger
[43:56] and then it grows and grows and grows
[43:58] mighty become violence
[44:01] and this applies to any situation what
[44:04] if you
[44:05] are in a reactive unconscious the
[44:08] unconscious state of reactivity then you
[44:10] amplify the problem
[44:14] and this is what happens a lot on every
[44:17] level here
[44:18] this is an unconscious way of dealing
[44:20] with things whenever you're motivated by
[44:23] fear or anger
[44:25] this is what happens you think you are
[44:27] you're
[44:28] resolving the situation but you're
[44:30] amplifying it
[44:32] terrible
[44:36] so the key is
[44:40] then to this
[44:43] to to realize
[44:46] this dimension within yourself that is
[44:49] beyond
[44:52] the thinking mind and the or the
[44:55] mental emotional turbulence
[44:57] [Music]
[44:59] and this happens
[45:02] very easily in a moment
[45:07] like now
[45:12] when your mind your thinking mind
[45:18] subsides comes to a stop
[45:28] now what remains
[45:33] you can't say what remains but you know
[45:37] what remains directly
[45:42] the sense of presence cannot be defined
[45:50] a sense of beingness
[45:59] this is the most beautiful thing these
[46:02] moments without
[46:03] thought but you don't it's not loss of
[46:06] consciousness it's loss of thinking
[46:09] when it's not needed
[46:13] because thinking is useful for many
[46:15] things
[46:17] and destructive for many other things
[46:21] and so you discover when it's useful
[46:25] and you let go of it when it's
[46:27] destructive
[46:29] when it destroys your enjoyment of life
[46:32] your enjoyment of the present moment
[46:33] your ability to
[46:35] to just be to to acknowledge
[46:39] the aliveness of things around you to
[46:41] acknowledge the present moment
[46:44] to be to have some gratitude for the
[46:48] richness of life and all life runs
[46:50] around
[46:51] all this you lose when you are
[46:53] continuously absorbed
[46:55] only in thinking
[46:58] what remains then when thinking subsides
[47:02] awareness remains
[47:05] or presence whatever you want to call it
[47:09] in religious traditions in mystical
[47:13] christianity it's
[47:14] it's called the christ within
[47:17] in some buddhist schools it is called
[47:21] your buddha nature these are just
[47:25] names to talk about it
[47:28] that's what remains when thinking
[47:31] subsides
[47:33] and there's only a sense of spacious
[47:37] presence like now
[47:45] and in that spacious presence
[47:53] strange thing is
[47:59] you don't know anything anymore of
[48:02] course because there's no concepts
[48:03] anymore in your mind
[48:06] you don't know anything on the level of
[48:09] concepts
[48:13] and yet
[48:17] that is the essence of who you are
[48:21] this beingness or presence so you don't
[48:24] know yourself anymore as an
[48:26] object which is when you live through
[48:29] the ego
[48:31] then you become an object to yourself
[48:33] and your consciousness and you have a
[48:34] relationship with yourself you can say i
[48:37] love myself
[48:39] which is better than hating yourself but
[48:41] you still have a relationship with
[48:42] yourself you're not yourself
[48:44] you have a relationship with yourself
[48:46] it's better to love yourself than to
[48:48] hate yourself
[48:49] true but you still have a relationship
[48:52] with yourself
[48:54] please too i love myself
[48:57] i'm too but when you
[49:01] with the realization of being you are
[49:05] yourself
[49:08] and you so you don't cannot know
[49:10] yourself as an object of knowledge
[49:14] but you can know yourself
[49:17] as the eternal subject of all knowing
[49:21] and that's where wisdom arises this is
[49:24] the source of
[49:25] all real knowing and the source of
[49:28] all true intelligence is in this
[49:31] non-conceptual
[49:33] vast intelligence which is the
[49:35] intelligence of consciousness itself
[49:38] which is one with who you are and then
[49:41] when you can link into that you become
[49:44] inspired
[49:45] it can inspire your mind your mind can
[49:47] create
[49:48] when it's linked into that you have
[49:51] creative thoughts you have creative
[49:53] input
[49:53] ideas you take action that is
[49:56] wise rather than or is the buddhists say
[50:00] skillful
[50:01] skillful wise action rather than
[50:05] unconscious action that produces more
[50:09] suffering
[50:10] for yourself and others perpetuates
[50:13] karma
[50:16] so this realm of
[50:22] true intelligence is the non-conceptual
[50:25] realm yes you need concepts and you can
[50:28] use concepts but don't lose yourself in
[50:31] concepts
[50:32] don't you don't look for yourself in
[50:34] concepts
[50:35] and then have a have a narrative in your
[50:38] mind that's
[50:38] that says this is who i am
[50:42] it's just a story of one concept linking
[50:45] linked with others concepts the
[50:48] the story of yourself is not essentially
[50:51] who you are
[50:53] it's just it's a story versus this
[50:55] limited entity the person
[50:57] it's a surface phenomenon
[51:01] it's not who you are but it's the
[51:03] realization of who you are
[51:06] that's the awakening but it's not
[51:09] conceptual
[51:13] so look for
[51:17] the cessation of thought look for it in
[51:20] little moments like now
[51:23] whenever you look at something natural
[51:26] the sky
[51:28] a tree
[51:34] the ocean
[51:38] any plant or flower or animal
[51:43] don't label it just be alert and present
[51:48] and perceive it
[51:51] and as i said before when you go and
[51:53] anything natural when you go into nature
[51:57] you can then sense something that is
[51:59] almost
[52:00] all inspiring i'm not romanticizing
[52:02] nature i also of course
[52:05] nature can also kill you but there is
[52:08] there is something there that is
[52:12] holy or sacred and humans have to find
[52:16] that
[52:17] urgently because then they are not going
[52:19] to
[52:21] destroy nature anymore
[52:24] ultimately humans have been destroying
[52:27] nature
[52:27] for some time because they have lost
[52:31] the ability to sense what's there and
[52:34] then you can cut down i mean
[52:37] i'm there are
[52:40] old forests
[52:43] still some are still here in canada and
[52:46] other parts of the world
[52:48] there are forests that have been there
[52:50] with gigantic trees
[52:53] they have been there for thousands of
[52:54] years thousands of years
[52:57] they are sacred spaces
[53:01] and but if humans cannot sense it
[53:04] anymore then all they see is
[53:06] possible profit what can we do with it
[53:10] what can we do with it they look at the
[53:13] whole world in terms of
[53:14] doing what i can what can i do with it
[53:18] because they have lost sense of being
[53:23] it's a terrible loss
[53:27] so but you've also lost it with
[53:30] reference to yourself
[53:31] you can't sense your own being that's
[53:33] why you cannot sense the forest
[53:35] you can't sense your own holiness and
[53:37] that's why you cannot sense the
[53:39] wholeness of the forest
[53:40] or the sky or the ocean
[53:51] so
[53:56] it's not impossibly difficult
[54:00] what i am suggesting is the most
[54:04] important task
[54:08] in your life which has
[54:12] become particularly almost
[54:15] one could say urgent at the present time
[54:19] this is a task of
[54:23] realizing
[54:26] the transcendent dimension to who you
[54:29] are
[54:30] by the simple very simply by
[54:34] realizing that you do not have to think
[54:36] all the time
[54:38] that there's always a possibility in
[54:40] yourself is just waiting to be
[54:41] discovered
[54:42] you are waiting to be discovered
[54:45] so to speak that dimension is always
[54:48] there the moment
[54:50] thinking subsides you feel that
[54:53] stillness
[54:54] it's another word you can use you know
[54:57] there's a stillness
[54:59] i wrote a little book called stillness
[55:02] speaks
[55:03] it's a small book designed for
[55:06] meditative
[55:07] reading not consecutively just
[55:10] little little just little entries the
[55:12] first sentence in the book if i remember
[55:14] correctly
[55:15] is you are never
[55:18] more essentially yourself than when you
[55:21] are still
[55:23] so one years this is the same thing it's
[55:26] just another
[55:27] term pointer to describe it we are still
[55:30] when the mind subsides but awareness is
[55:33] not lost in fact awareness has
[55:35] grown consciousness
[55:38] awareness this is the light of
[55:41] consciousness that jesus
[55:42] said you are
