Kat John is an authenticity coach, speaker, author, podcast host, and somatic dance and qi gong teacher based in Melbourne. Her work is about helping people live a life that feels true to them: getting to know themselves beneath the roles they've collected, understanding what matters, and finding the courage to live by it, including giving themselves permission to change.
Her approach brings together honest conversation, practical coaching, movement and stillness. Coaching creates space to understand and question. Qi gong uses gentle movement, breath and awareness, and somatic dance makes room to explore feeling through movement and expression. She describes herself as bringing warmth, directness and curiosity, and believes that serious matters can still come with a good laugh.
Kat speaks openly about her own path. Her life has included childhood sexual abuse, bulimia, drug addiction, chronic pain and brain surgery at 23. Learning to relate to herself differently, and to question what she had accepted as fact about who she was, shaped the care she brings to her work. She shares more of that journey in her book, Authentic: Coming Home to Your True Self, and describes herself as still becoming.
Beyond one-to-one coaching, Kat offers self-paced programs, keynote speaking and corporate qi gong sessions that invite teams to pause and arrive in their bodies. She also teaches community qi gong by the water in Elwood. Her YouTube channel describes her as creator of the ZEROFKS movement, and says she has spent eight years helping people manage the thoughts in their head so they can listen to their heart.
Away from work, she is married to Steve, is a step-mum, and shares her home with two dogs, Bailey and Daisy. She loves nature, walking, gardening, cooking for her family and a good book.
