Jenny Mayo teaches meditation, mindfulness, restorative and slow flow yoga, dance and Reiki in Northern Virginia, in the greater Washington, DC area. She works with busy, overstressed people who want more peace and joy in daily life. Her own practice grew out of recovering from debilitating stress, anxiety, grief and burnout, and she says she wishes she'd had these tools much sooner.
Restorative yoga is her favorite of the practices she shares. She describes it as a resting yoga, a meditation from the body up, built on long-held floor poses supported by props. Her slow flow classes link breath and meditative movement, and she teaches them from the idea that yoga means meeting your body where it is. Her meditations favor tangible anchors such as relaxing the body, watching the breath and calming imagery.
Jenny completed 200-hour trainings in meditation and vinyasa yoga, advanced restorative yoga training with Jillian Pransky, and Reiki Master Teacher training with Libby Barnett. She is pursuing a 300-hour yoga teacher training at the Kripalu Center. She has taught movement for more than two decades across the DC region and is a lifelong writer, with many years as a local arts and entertainment journalist. She leads the Reiki Program for the Johns Hopkins/Sibley Hospital Cancer Survivorship Program, teaching cancer patients, survivors and caregivers self-Reiki.
She offers group classes, workshops, retreats, private and small-group sessions, and corporate wellness programs, in person and online.
