Introduction

Ajeet is a multi-instrumentalist, producer and songwriter based in Ireland. Her music moves from traditional Irish folk to mystical, meditative soundscapes, and over more than a decade of recordings she has built a body of work that sits between folk songwriting and devotional practice. Her catalog runs from Sacred Waters in 2013 to Slánú in October 2026. Along the way she has also become a producer, a bandleader and the host of retreats and of an online course for women. She has also been known under another name: her label, Spirit Voyage Records, lists her as Ajeet Kaur on its page for Darshan. She now records and tours simply as Ajeet.

Roots in Irish Folk and Story

The thread that runs through Ajeet's work is her Irish background. She draws on its folk traditions, and she has always loved story, especially the stories that cultures pass down. Many of her songs carry layers of folklore, dream images and myth. Her band reflects a wide reach: it brings together musicians from Spain, Ireland and the United States.

Mantra as a Beginning

Her recording career began with mantra. Her first two albums were built around it. Sacred Waters (2013) holds music for Kundalini Yoga meditations. At The Temple Door (2014) weaves songs and mantras over guitar by Todd Boston, with harmonies from Snatam Kaur, a prominent Kundalini yoga mantra singer and chant artist.

Those albums set a pattern that persists. Ajeet does not treat devotional music and folk songwriting as separate territories. In her hands, the repeated phrase of a mantra and the narrative arc of a ballad belong to the same impulse: to give voice to something older than the singer.

The Middle Albums

Darshan followed in 2015, recorded in Bali. In 2016 came Haseya, produced by Maneesh de Moor, with guests including Trevor Hall and Peia. Its title comes from the Diné for "she rises," a phrase that would resurface years later in the name of her 2020 single When She Rises.

Two releases arrived in 2018, Shuniya and Indigo Sea. Then, in 2020, the LUNAR EP offered four songs that follow the phases of the moon, a structure that points to her interest in cycles and in time kept by nature rather than the clock.

A Return to Ireland

A clear turning point in the record is 2020, when Ajeet moved back to Ireland. Her home studio there became both a workplace and a gathering place, welcoming artists and friends. It is where she produced and mixed Here, an EP by her friend and collaborator Sukhmani, and from there she released Let It Breathe in 2022.

Her longtime bandmate is Aisling Urwin, a harpist and vocalist she calls a dear friend and collaborator. Urwin toured Europe with the band in 2019, and in 2020 the two introduced a new project, Woven Kin, on the single When She Rises. Her band has also included Raffa Martinez and Ezra Landis. Across her career, her collaborators have included Trevor Hall, Rising Appalachia, Snatam Kaur, Seamus Egan and Peia.

Live Music

Ajeet is a committed live performer. Voices Like Rain, her first live album, was recorded on her 2019 European tour. It features layered harmonies, acoustic and electric guitars, hand percussion and Celtic harp, and each of its songs was recorded at a different venue on that tour.

Her touring has continued at scale. While the singles from Let It Breathe (2022) were being released, she and her band spent seven weeks on the Blooming Tour through Europe: more than 20 concerts in 13 countries. Let It Breathe itself included Nessi Gomes and Peia among its collaborators.

Slánú and the Current Chapter

Slánú arrived in October 2026. Its songs include "Healing Song," "Para la Tierra," "only tenderness between us," "Heartbeat," "Soften," "Dreaming," "From The Water," "Viento," "Para Sanar" and "only you know where peace is." Aisling Urwin and Rachel Sermanni join her on "Dreaming." The track names as a whole suggest an album concerned with tenderness, softening and repair.

Her calendar looks ahead. In April 2027 she appears in Oprah Winfrey's AHA at Sphere in Las Vegas. Her tour page lists concerts for May 2027 in Amsterdam, London, Ludwigsburg, Zurich, Belgium, Slovenia, Linz and Rosenheim. Her 2026 dates included festivals in France, Canada, Slovenia, Montenegro, Spain and Germany.

Retreats and Teaching

Alongside the music, Ajeet hosts retreats. Her Dreaming Retreat is a five-day gathering at Dromgarriff in County Cork, near her home. She leads daily yoga and meditation and shares songs, stories and music, and the group visits ancient sacred sites and explores Cork and Kerry. The Many Moons Retreat, with Ajeet, takes place at Mahai Retreat in Mahahual, Mexico.

Many Moons is also the name of her online course for women. Its first cycle, in 2023, ran for a month and gathered almost 100 women. Its name echoes the lunar theme of her earlier EP, and the course shows how she extends her songs into practice and community.

Why She Matters

Ajeet occupies a space that few artists hold with credibility: she is rooted in Irish folk tradition and also fluent in the language of meditation and chant. Her audience includes people who come to her through yoga and meditation, listeners who arrive through folk and world music, and women who join her retreats and courses. Her music is available on Spotify and Bandcamp, and her website, ajeetmusic.com, lists each release.

Her significance lies less in any single record than in the consistency of her approach. She treats song as a carrier of story, story as a way of tending to inner life, and collaboration as the means by which both travel. From the mantra albums of her early career to the tender, multilingual songs of Slánú, she has worked as a producer, songwriter and bandleader who builds a home for others to sing in. That, more than any genre label, is the shape of her legacy so far.
